Tailgate Tavern & Grill – Parker

After my first attempt at the Rueter-Hess Incline it was time to grab some lunch. I spend a bit of time in Parker but had never made it to the downtown area. It was a nice little spot with some cool shops and a cool restaurant, Tailgate Tavern and Grill.

Quick Note: This statue may have freaked me out a little bit as it was in the corner of my eye and I didn’t realize it was a statue the first time I walked by. The Fatman isn’t the most observant always. In my defense the details are pretty impressive!

Tailgate

To the important part, the food! I found Tailgate on the main strip and stopped in for a quick bite. It is dubbed as a neighborhood tavern and had a little something for everyone. They had an extensive menu, Happy Hour drink specials, and even have room for live bands which they do several nights a week. It also had a nice sports bar feel with memorabilia and TV’s up.

My server told me that the pizza’s were on special and suggested the Angry Vegan. She obviously isn’t a reader to suggest a Vegan dish but then I saw it on the menu.

The Angry Vegan pizza had pepperoni, sausage, apple-wood smoked bacon and ground beef on it. So maybe she is a reader! I decided to order that and have now ordered my first item with the word Vegan in the title!

The pizza was good albeit a little messy. The ground beef fell off a bit. The crust had a nice buttery taste to it and all of the meat was cooked to perfection. It was obviously piled high with toppings but the crust held up and it was easy to take a bite. I really enjoyed it!

Now for the fun part. Alex, my server, came by halfway through and told me that all of the meat was really tofu. She was joking of course. I think it was the first time I could see a smile through a mask as she gauged my reaction. It was a lot of fun and good food and I can’t wait to come back when they have some live music one night.
