Castle Café – Castle Rock

The Castle Café

After a long hike at the Ridgeline Open Space I needed to get some food and feel like I earned a burger! I ended up around the town square in Castle Rock because that’s the only place I really know down there. Right on the corner was the Castle Café and I am a sucker for old timey neon signs so I was sold.

The Castle Café had the feel of a place filled with history. Google proved that to be true. It has been around since the 1890’s! Although, it seemed to have a much rougher past than the great experience I had. The inside had a ton of hardwood and cool bar that felt historic yet modern which was very cool.

The Food

Time for the food and that burger I earned! I asked my server, Robyn, what the favorite item on the menu for most people and I loved her response. She said, “We don’t have one thing everyone orders. All of our food is so good people order everything!”.

After hearing that I ordered the “Boss”. The “Boss” is a half pound burger served on a fresh baked brioche bun with smokehouse bacon and spicy jalapeño cream cheese. To make it better, Robyn explained to me that they made the jalapeno cream cheese was homemade!

Ok, this burger was legit. The cream cheese had a real nice spice to it that stole the show. The burgers half pound premium beef hand formed was perfect and juicy.

The burger also came with lettuce, tomato and pickles. With the cream cheese giving the burger a spicy, creamy flavor and texture the pickles became key. They gave a nice crunch and that little bit of acid to cut through the cream. That made for a perfect mix. I really enjoyed this burger if you couldn’t tell!

Finding Castle Café

Castle Cafe is located at 403 Wilcox St. in Castle Rock. If you find yourself that way give them a shot. Their famous pan fried chicken might be a good option if you make it!

One thing to keep in mind is that the square in Castle Rock has street parking around it but I didn’t see any specific lots for individual businesses so keep that in mind when you plan your trip.

I have added this restaurant and all of the restaurants I have been to on my interactive map that you can find here. If you have a suggestion for a restaurant or any comments feel free to email me at fatmanlittletrails@gmail.com or you can follow me on any of the below social media platforms. Bon Appetit!

Help Me Help a Small Business

Unlike some other bloggers, I never ask for discounted or free meals on my site. I think it is important, especially now, to support our local restaurants and small business owners. It does get expensive though and I am just a small business myself so if you are willing to help me out by making a donation below I would greatly appreciate it and be able to continue to bring you the content you love!
