Boss Burgers and Gyros – Estes Park

Boss Burgers and Gyros

After spending a very long day checking out a bunch of lakes at Rocky Mountain National Park I was starving. My plan was to get back to Estes Park but I saw a big sign for Boss Burgers and Gyros on the road into town and new that was the place for me.

The smaller restaurant had some indoor and covered outdoor seating, the outdoor was perfect after a day on the trails! The menu has an assortment of, you guessed it, burgers and gyros! They actually had a pretty extensive menu with plenty of options. All in all it was a great place to stop while I was tired and hot after hiking.

The Food

I was very excited to see one of my all time favorites on the menu, fried mushrooms. I put in an order of those and gyro and fries as well. This isn’t a fast food place, so you put your order in at the counter and then they bring it out to the table after a few minutes.

The mushrooms were really good. They had a thick breading that helped soak up the grease and the ranch dipping sauce. This really took me back to some of the places I went to as a kid. No light dusting of panko on shitake mushrooms. Just good comfort snacks!

Next up was the gyro. I really enjoyed this as well. The meat was cut thick and was plentiful. The tomatoes were fresh and also cut pretty thick. I got the sandwich without feta but the tzatziki was really good. What I liked was they really toasted the pita bread which gave it a nice little crust to it.

The fries were a thinner cut and were delicious. This really hit the spot after I was so hungry and worn down from a long day of hiking. It gave me the perfect amount of fuel to make it back home. If you find yourself near Rocky Mountain National Park give Boss Burgers and Gyros a shot.
