The Sunset Restaurant
The Sunset Restaurant in Malibu is very aptly named. Its sits just across the street from the beach and from my spot on the back patio, had an amazing view of the sunset over the ocean. The restaurant had a large interior dining area and a smaller outdoor patio. I loved that the outside had sand on the floor and just gave that amazing beach feel!
The building looked historic and I was told that it started back in the 1970’s. There was an eclectic mix of people all having an enjoyable time between the bar and large eating area. The large windows gave a great view of the water for those who sat indoors but I loved the open back patio!
The Food
Now to the important part…The Food! The Sunset Restaurant has a little something for everyone. Combining seafood like clams, oysters, with a twists on traditional favorites like tacos, Wagyu beef Bolognese, pumpkin torteloni, and so many other options, the Sunset has all tastes covered. Including my basic tastes or a Wagyu Burger and fries to cap off a great day of hiking.
I added bacon and cheddar cheese to the Wagyu Burger that also came with caramelized onions, arugula, tomato, and garlic aioli on a toasted brioche bun. The burger was really good! The patty was soft and juicy and had a great flavor. The bacon was crispy and really good. The star of the show for me were the onions. Perfectly caramelized and the perfect addition to the rich burger. The fries thin and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Really delicious burger to end a perfect day in California.
Finding the Sunset Restaurant in Malibu, CA
The Sunset Restaurant is located at 6800 Westward Beach Road in Malibu, California. There is valet parking available and also some roadside and beach parking nearby that you can use and walk to the restaurant. They are open from 11:45am – 8:30pm Monday-Thursday, 11:45 – 9:30 on Fridays and 10:30 – 9:30 on Weekends.
