Ma Caulli South Cocina and Tequila
Ma Caulli South is a family run restaurant on the south side of Rapid City. The restaurant has a sharp modern feel to go along with traditional Mexican cuisine. The night we went there was a line out the door, showing how popular this local establishment is. There is also a full bar with specialized margaritas and signature cocktails.
The Food
Now to the important part…The Food. Ma Caulli South offers some traditional Mexican favorites such as Street Tacos, Burrito’s, Carne Asada and much more. We started with Queso Fundido and I followed it up with the Quesadilla Fajita
Queso Fundido
The Queso Fundido is an appetizer that includes queso asadero, queso blanco, chorizo, pico and is served with tortillas. This was really good! Rich and cheesy with really good onions on top. The chorizo gave it a little heft. I could honestly have probably eaten this as my meal it was that good.
Quesadilla Fajita
For the main I went with the Quesadilla Fajita. This came with cheese, peppers, onions, pico, crema, and guac. I added steak as well to make this a really filling meal. There were really big pieces of steak and peppers which gave nice flavor. The cheese was just right without overwhelming the flavors. I was super impressed with the guac. It was more of a creamy sauce than traditional guacamole. It was smooth and a had a really nice spice to it. There was also a lot of food and this filled me up perfectly after a long day of hiking!
I was really impressed with the food at Ma Caulli South. It was very crowded and it took a while to get seated but after tasting the food I understood why. If you find yourself in Rapid City, give Ma Cauli’s a try!

Ma Caulli South is located at 4831 5th St in Rapid City, South Dakota. There is parking in the centers lot but it does fill up due to the popularity. Ma Cauli is open from 11am – 10pm 7 days a week.
