After the hike at Twin Sisters we were a bit tired to make it all the way to downtown Estes Park but found a great spot right down the road from the hike. La Cocina de Mama was a nice Mexican restaurant with a great outdoor patio with some mountain views.

I really liked the menu. It really screamed family to me. There were items like Miguel’s plate and Maria’s Plate as well as Mama’s burrito. It really had a great feel to it. My buddy Scott went with Mama’s burrito and on the suggestion of the server I went with the carne asada burrito.
The first thing you will notice is how large the burrito is. It was enormous and it came smothered in a green chili with a side of sour cream and lettuce which I immediately put on the top.
This burrito was really good. It was filled with grilled steak, sauteed onions and peppers as well as beans and rice inside the flour tortilla.
We both agreed that we were only going eat half and then ended up eating the entire thing. The meat, peppers, and onion flavor all come through even with the other flavors of the chili and sour cream.
The only thing that was a little different is that the green chili was more of a tomato base and that gave it a richness that was different but good. Like I said we both finished every bit and really enjoyed it.

If you find yourself in Estes Park and are a looking for a really nice big meal after a long day hiking make sure you give La Cocina de Mama a shot.
I have added this restaurant and all of the restaurants I have tried on my interactive map that you can find here. Help Me Help a Small Business
Unlike some other bloggers, I never ask for discounted or free meals on my site. I think it is important, especially now, to support our local restaurants and small business owners. It does get expensive though and I am just a small business myself so if you are willing to help me out by making a donation below I would greatly appreciate it and be able to continue to bring you the content you love!
