After the hike to St. Mary’s Falls in the North Cheyenne Canyon Park the FMLT team found a nice little cafe just down the street, the Sacred Ground Cafe. We were pretty worn out from hiking on an upper 90s hike so it was time to take a bit of a break.
The first and best surprise of the meal was that the Sacred Ground had some Coca-Cola in the nice old fashioned glass bottles. This really pretty much made my day right there. The Coke just tastes better in a glass bottle.

We decided to start with some chips and salsa, but it came out as the same time as the meal but that wasn’t going to stop the team from chowing down on it. It was good. It was almost like a cross between marinara sauce and salsa with a heavy tomato base. A bit sweeter with a touch of an after kick of spice. I enjoyed it.

For the meal I ordered the JR Club which was a pretty traditional club with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. For those avid readers you will notice a bit of a leafy side on my plate. While I am a firm believer that salad is what food eats, I decided to buck tradition today. As a very non expert on salad I won’t try to describe it…although I did eat it all if that means anything.
The sandwich was good but it was a real struggle to keep together. The large bread that was toasted kept falling apart and large pieces were breaking off which made it a little hard to eat. I did like the turkey which had a nice flavor and the bacon was grilled up well and really large pieces. I wish the bread held up a little better.

I may have also ordered a second coke in the glass bottle. The meal was what we needed to refresh after the hike and on a super hot day it was a nice way to cool down a bit instead of a heavy burger. If you find yourself in Colorado Springs you should give them a shot.
I have added this restaurant and all the restaurants I have tried on my interactive map page you can find here. If you have any suggestions or comments you can email me at fatmanlittletrails@gmail.com or connect on any of the below social media platforms.
Help Me Help a Small Business
Unlike some other bloggers, I never ask for discounted or free meals on my site. I think it is important, especially now, to support our local restaurants and small business owners. It does get expensive though and I am just a small business myself so if you are willing to help me out by making a donation below I would greatly appreciate it and be able to continue to bring you the content you love!
