Picci’s Pizzeria – Idaho Springs

After the Hell’s Hole hike the FMLT team made its way to Idaho Springs. Unfortunately on one of the last warm Sunday’s so did half of Colorado and the main downtown area was having a street fair so we couldn’t find a place to park.

Have no fear though as we made our way down Colorado Blvd toward the east side of town and found Picci’s Pizzeria. We knew we were in the right spot were we saw the front fence was made out of old ski’s and some of the chairs were made out of old snowboards.

A fence built out of used ski's greets you at Picci's

Picci’s had Pizza’s, pasta’s, wings, and a few other options but the entire FMLT team settled on the calzones. Since nobody was in a sharing mood I can only talk about the one I ordered. Sausage, Pepperoni and green peppers (veggies are good).

A sausage, peperoni, and green pepper calzone that was too big to fit in a standard Styrofoam to go container

The calzone came out about the size of a football and even the Fatman could only finish a half! The toppings (innings?) were plentiful and were really good. Even in the mass of cheese and meat the peppers taste still came through which was really nice as they were very fresh.

What I especially liked was that there was even cheese inside the fold of the calzone. So many times that is just a lump of bread at the end so this was nice.

I’m going to end this here so I can go have the other half for dinner! I have added Picci’s and all of the restaurants I have tried to my interactive map page you can find here. Help Me Help a Small Business

Unlike some other bloggers, I never ask for discounted or free meals on my site. I think it is important, especially now, to support our local restaurants and small business owners. It does get expensive though and I am just a small business myself so if you are willing to help me out by making a donation below I would greatly appreciate it and be able to continue to bring you the content you love!
