O’Malley’s Steak Pub – Palmer Lake

O’Malley’s Steak Pub

After my hike up Chautauqua Mountain I made my way back into Palmer Lake to find a bit to eat. I had never been to Palmer Lake before so I was excited to try some stuff out. The busiest place I found was O’Malley’s Steak Pub with a line of people walking across the street to get in so I gave it a shot too.

O’Malley’s did something that I haven’t seen before in that you could pick your cut of meat and then grill it yourself. I have seen picking your own steak but this was the first time I had seen the chance to cook your steak. I was tired from my hike so I decided against that this time but it will be fun for the next trip!

The Food

The two main items on the menu at O’Malley’s were the Chicken Wings and the Hamburger. I asked my server what she recommended. She said that both are delicious and that they made their own wing sauce but the burgers were really good too. I went with the burger because I was too tired for all the work of eating the wings. Editor note: That is next level lazy by the Fatman!

I immediately regretted that choice after watching the table next to mine’s order of 40 wings show up in a basket full of what looked like the best wings I had ever seen. But alas, my burger showed up shortly after and my regret subsided.

The burger is a half pound of fresh ground beef served with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, chips and a dill pickle. I got mine with the sidewinder fries which were like a cross between potato wedges and french fries.

The burger was well cooked with a nice smoky flavor. All of the toppings were fresh and I devoured it. It was one of those hamburgers that took me back. It was like one of those great burgers you might have at a neighborhood picnic. The whole experience just felt as comfortable as being in a neighbors backyard enjoying the day.
