Cowboy’s Buffet and Steak Room

Cowboy’s Buffet and Steak Room

After a long day of hiking and driving I was looking for a good place to eat near Bryce Canyon. I was sold as soon as I saw the sign for Cowboy’s Buffet and Steak Room. Located just outside of the main gates to the park, Cowboy’s is part of the Ruby’s Inn complex. It offers a very lively atmosphere, a buffet, and a full menu if you prefer to order that way.

The first thing you notice when you walk in towards the buffet is the lobby of Ruby’s Inn. Ruby’s is decorated will all sorts of old west memorabilia and animal mounts. Its the kind of feel that makes you feel secure about entering a steak room. The restaurant is wood floors and tables with a lot of space.

The Food

While I wasn’t ready for a full buffet and ordered off the main menu, each entrée did come with a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar was stocked with fresh veggies and toppings to make the salad of your dreams. I may have gone a little heavy on the bacon on mine but I stand by my decisions!

Next up was main course. I was pretty hungry so I decided to go with the Flat Iron Steak. I also got green beans and a baked potato on the side and ordered some sautéed mushrooms to top my steak with.

The steak tasted really good. I ordered it medium rare and I think the thin part was a little over cooked but as I ate into the thicker part in the middle and the other end it was a perfect medium rare. The mushrooms were cooked perfect and added a nice buttery touch to each bite. The green beans, were, well green beans but I am sure they will make my mom happy when she reads this!

The potato was good and the cheese melted completely inside and the bacon bits kind of stuck to the cheese so each bite had the soft potato and a little crunch with bacon and cheese. It was really nice.

I really enjoyed this meal and if you are looking for a nice full meal while visiting Bryce Canyon give Cowboy’s a shot!
