Gold Camp Bakery
After hiking the Pancake Rocks and Horsethief Falls trail I was definitely looking for a great place to eat. My new friends that I met on the hike, Doug and Debbie, suggested that I make it to Victor, Colorado and the Gold Camp Bakery. Doug said Gold Camp had a sandwich even I couldn’t finish! Challenge accepted!
Victor
It was my first time in Victor, Colorado and what a great small town. There is a population of about 400 people and a really cool main street area. Victor started as a mining town back in the 1890’s and they still mine gold there today! I really enjoyed my time there and if you would like to learn a bit more, check out the video below.

Gold Camp Bakery
The Gold Camp Bakery is a small bakery with German roots. The family owned spot has about a dozen tables and one of the most amazing dessert displays I have ever seen!

The menu at Gold Camp has some breakfast pastry options along with Biscuits and Gravy that I was told I have to try next time! They also have a build your own sandwich or salad and a chicken pot pie. I had heard such great things I had to try the sandwich.
The Food
When it comes to a sandwich I don’t think that Gold Camp can be beat. The sandwiches come in either half or whole loaf of freshly baked bread. The bread is made each morning and was absolutely delicious. You can that add your choice of meat, cheese and vegetables to finish it up. I went with Roast Beef, Provolone, lettuce, tomato, cucumbers and pickles. Now if you were curious if these were as big as you were thinking, here is a sandwich next to a can of Coke for scale.

Not only was this sandwich gigantic but it was delicious. The meats and veggies were very fresh and tasted amazing. The fresh made sourdough loaf stole the show though. I thought that I could eat a lot but I could only knock out a quarter of this beast!
I did grab a couple of brownies on my way out as well and they were amazing as well. The chocolate was super rich but not overwhelmingly sweet. They melted in my mouth and I didn’t even have them warmed up. I think this might be the new definition of Colorado “special” Brownie!
If you find yourself down near Teller County make sure to give Gold Camp a shot!

Help Me Help a Small Business
Unlike some other bloggers, I never ask for discounted or free meals on my site. I think it is important, especially now, to support our local restaurants and small business owners. It does get expensive though and I am just a small business myself so if you are willing to help me out by making a donation below I would greatly appreciate it and be able to continue to bring you the content you love!
