Coney Island Boardwalk
If you have ever been driving down 285 near Bailey and thought you were crazy because you saw a giant hot dog out of the corner of your eyes…you aren’t crazy. The giant red hot is in fact home to the Coney Island Boardwalk hot dog stand and it is a fun little stop.
The hot dog stand has been serving customers since 1966 but this version of it in Bailey was started in 2016 with some new owners. They try to use as much food locally Colorado produced food as they can and therefore the menu changes around a bit but they definitely feature some great hot dogs.
And they were busy! There was a pretty nice line around the building when I got there so pack some patience but the dogs are worth a wait. There is also a store next door that serves up some sweet treats to make the wait a bit better. But to be honest standing in line for a hot dog surrounded by trees and mountains doesn’t get much better!

The Food!
So I decided to order the balsamic glazed steak rolls with lobster etouffee on the side. If you believe that you haven’t read this blog very often! I ordered the original Coney because when in Rome…
The Coney was a foot long dog covered in Chili and onions. You can add cheese for a bit extra but I wanted to go all original. The chili was really meaty and had a bit of sweetness to it that I really liked. The dog was great. I will admit that there was so much chili that I didn’t even attempt to pick this up and had to use a knife and fork for all. (Don’t judge me!)
The fries were thin and crispy and delicious as well.

I also added a chocolate malt because it was super hot out. The malt was so good! It was very thick and even came with an extra wide straw to facilitate proper delivery. It was the perfect cap to the chili dog.
If you find yourself in Bailey and think you are imagining a giant hot dog on the side of the road, give the Coney Island Boardwalk a shot. It is real and it is fantastic!
Finding the Coney Island Boardwalk
The Coney Island Boardwalk is on Old Stagecoach Road just off of 285 in Bailey, Colorado. There is a decent amount of parking but it fills up quick. Currently there is only outdoor seating with some tables in the shade behind the giant hot dog and some more tables along the river.
I have added this restaurant and all of the restaurants I have been to on my interactive map that you can find here. If you have a suggestion for a restaurant or any comments feel free to email me at fatmanlittletrails@gmail.com or you can follow me on any of the below social media platforms. Bon Appetit!
Help Me Help a Small Business
Unlike some other bloggers, I never ask for discounted or free meals on my site. I think it is important, especially now, to support our local restaurants and small business owners. It does get expensive though and I am just a small business myself so if you are willing to help me out by making a donation below I would greatly appreciate it and be able to continue to bring you the content you love!
