South Park Saloon
After a nice little hike fighting the weather on Hoosier Pass, I made my way down into the small town of Alma and was once again sold by a sign! I saw the sign for South Park Saloon and was so intrigued I actually turned around and headed back. I am so glad that I did!

The long time readers know that I am a sucker for cool signs. What I love about them is they usually tell you a lot about the restaurant and this simple wood sign told me a lot about the South Park Saloon. The saloon was full of wood and gave an amazing classic feel. From hand made bar stools, wood floors and bar, and even large wood tables the Saloon felt a bit like walking through a time machine and I loved every second of it.
The Food at South Park Saloon
Now the important part…the Food! I actually ordered my food to go because I needed to get back to town. The Saloon is kind of known for their pizza’s but I decided to get their Cheese Steak. The Cheese Steak was seasoned tri-tip shaved down with onions, mushrooms, and green peppers.
I really liked the flavor on the beef. It was seasoned well and was the dominant flavor and didn’t get lost with peppers and onions. The onions had a bit of a sweetness to them that worked really well with the savory beef. I really enjoyed the bread too. It was thick and solid and absorbed the Au Jus well without getting soggy and having the sandwich fall apart. All together a really nice meal.

The sandwich was great but I just couldn’t get over how cool all of the old wood surfaces were. One last note, they were a bit short staffed like every other place these days it seems. They had a note on the door mentioning this but the woman who was working while I was there was crushing it. She was helping most of the bar at once and one of the hardest working people I have seen. Kudos to you!
If you find yourself in Alma, give the South Park Saloon a shot!

Help Me Help a Small Business
Unlike some other bloggers, I never ask for discounted or free meals on my site. I think it is important, especially now, to support our local restaurants and small business owners. It does get expensive though and I am just a small business myself so if you are willing to help me out by making a donation below I would greatly appreciate it and be able to continue to bring you the content you love!
