Bandits Grill and Bar
After hiking around the Cottonwood Canyons near Salt Lake City, I was looking for a good spot to stop and recharge. Bandits Grill and Bar was a popular spot located in a shopping center. It was full of locals who were friendly and I struck up some great conversations sitting at the bar. A really friendly and family friendly environment!

The Food!
Good people is only part of the story, the important part is, of course, the food! Bandits is a cross between a barbecue spot and a wood fire grill. There menu has wood fired BBQ, wood fired steaks, sandwiches, and some great looking salads and appetizers among other traditional options. I decided to go with the woodfired tri-tip sandwich which came with fries and slaw.

The Original Tri-Tip Sandwich came with Onions, bell peppers, jack cheese, BBQ, Jerk or Spicy BBQ on a steak roll. I went with the spicy sauce and have to say this was a really good sandwich! The tri-tip was soft and really flavorful. Melt in your mouth style. The sauce had a nice kick to it but wasn’t overpowering. The grilled bread couldn’t contain all of the sandwich and this became a two napkin sort of meal. The peppers and onions gave it a bit of a Philly feel but the BBQ gave off rich flavors that complemented the pepper and onion blend.

The slaw started off sweet and had a tangy finish to it and the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall this was a really enjoyable meal and perfect after a long day of hiking. If you find yourself in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, give Bandits Grill and Bar a shot!
