Huckleberry Inn
The Huckleberry Inn in Government Camp, Oregon has been family owned since 1966 and offers a restaurant and lodging in the popular Mt. Hood town. I was immediately drawn to the giant lodgepoles in the front of the building and the amazing sign. Inside, the restaurant gave that comfy diner feel with a counter that worked as both a display for the amazing pastries and a place to sit. They also had plenty of tables for larger groups. The minute I walked in, the Huckleberry Inn just felt like home.
The Food
Now to the important part…The Food! The Huckleberry Inn cafe has an extensive menu full of favorites like Rueben and French Dip sandwiches, Halibut Fish and Chips, and entrees like Liver and Onions and Roast Beef. I was there for breakfast so I had the choice between favorites like the Steak and Eggs, fresh made donuts and maple bars, and omelets. I decided to go with the Mt. Hood Omelet because when in Rome…
The Mt. Hood Omelet is made with bacon, cheese, mushrooms and three eggs. Plus, a side of hash browns and toast and jelly. The first thing I noticed was that the omelet was stuffed full of big chunks of bacon and mushrooms. I mean it was busting at the seams it was so packed. There was a lot of cheese on the top and overall it was really good. I hate getting an omelet that has the filling diced so small you can barely find it so I loved having a huge chunk of meat or mushroom with every single bite. I really enjoyed it!
The hashbrowns had a good mix of crispy and soft potatoes and were really good. I really enjoyed everything about this meal and the environment was perfect. A really enjoyable meal. If you ever find yourself in Government Camp, make sure to give the Huckleberry Inn a shot.
Finding the Huckleberry Inn
The Huckleberry Inn is located at 88611 Government Camp Loop, Government Camp, OR 97028. It is right in the heart of Government Camp. The restaurant is open from 6am – 9:30pm every day. I found parking easily across the street from the front door.
