Ol’ Miner Steakhouse
Right in the heart of Gunnison, Colorado sits a building that looks like it is frozen in time. The all wood store front of the Ol’ Miner is hard to miss and is just as inviting today as it probably was 100 years ago. Inside, the wood continues through the hard wood floors, tables and chairs. The walls are lined with mounts of several animals and it just feels like a steakhouse from the old west. That is exactly what the Ol’ Miner Steakhouse is really. A delicious restaurant with a nod to the past.
The Food!
Now to the important part…The Food!! As you may have guessed, the Ol’ Miner has a full selection of steaks. However, they are not a one trick pony. Appetizers, Burgers, Salads, Seafood and more all are available. While I appreciated all of the options, I can’t come to a steakhouse without ordering a steak! I went with the ribeye, topped with Sauteed Mushrooms, a baked potato with butter and sour cream, and started with a side salad.
To start, the salad was super fresh mixed greens with onions, tomatoes and plenty of dressing! It was good and I enjoyed it on a hot day. The ribeye was really good. It was seasoned exceptionally with a dry rub or just seasoning but was really good. It was also cooked to perfection. The mushrooms had a rich buttery flavor that really complimented the steak well.
I am not usually the biggest baked potato fan but this one was delicious. It could have been the big scoop of butter and sour cream, but I am sure the potato was good too haha. I know it was good enough for me to eat all of it. Overall, this was a really enjoyable meal. The ambiance, service and food were all perfect and exactly what I needed on a long day of exploring Gunnison. If you find yourself out that way, make sure you give the Ol’ Miner Steakhouse a shot!
Finding Ol’ Miner Steakhouse
The Ol’ Miner Steakhouse is located at 139 Main Street in Gunnison. I found street parking nearby and walked about half a block to get to the restaurant. It is also hard to miss with its wood front! They are currently open from 11am – 8:30 pm.
