Royal Robbins Spring/Summer 25 Style Review

If you’ve already read my other review on Fatmanlittletrail.com about my first experience with Royal Robbins, you’ll quickly learn that they are a company that I immediately fell for.  Not only is the company’s commitment to product quality and preserving environmental stewardship top tier, but they also believe in authenticity and staying true to their humble roots that began many years ago. As a woman nearing her 40’s,  quality clothing that is multifunctional is very important to me. I’m a minimalist who wants to maximize use out of everything she owns at this point in my life and preserve the environment– to the best of my ability– while doing so.

Royal Robbins was so kind to send me pieces that fit that bill to test out for Summer.  Lord knows that each of these pieces helped me stay cool and comfortable the past 3 months of Summer! But before I jump into my review on the products I was sent, I wanted to share a little about their beginnings and highlights of the brand’s eco-friendly evolution through the years. I feel it paints the picture of their continued dedication to sustainable practices and minimizing environmental footprint.

About Royal Robbins

Royal Robbins began in the late 1960s, when world-renowned climber Royal Robbins and his partner, Liz, met in Yosemite’s Camp 4. The two shared a passion for “clean climbing”—an approach that emphasized minimizing environmental impact and leaving no trace. After being frustrated with the climbing apparel that was on the market, Liz spearheaded the development of new products for climbers, as she felt they deserved better fitting clothing and gear that was functional and durable. From that moment on, the duo would go on to launch their own company and continue to grow as a leader of sustainable apparel. Key highlights of their evolution and notable accolades of environmental preservation through the years include:

  •  Eliminated intentional use of PFAS (harmful long-chain chemicals) in 2020 and continues to advocate industry-wide elimination.
  •  87% of styles were made with materials containing over 50% lower-impact fibers—such as preferred cotton, hemp, recycled poly, recycled nylon, and preferred forest materials.
  • Officially Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified, ensuring ethical treatment of sheep and traceable welfare in its wool supply chain

More steps Royal Robbins takes to be environmentally conscious

-100% of forest-based fibers are FSC or PEFC certified; 97% of cotton styles use preferred or organic cotton; 74–90% of polyester styles use recycled polyester; recycled nylon is used in about 41% of nylon-based styles; Undyed/undyed fabric options reduce energy, water, and chemicals substantially (up to 80% less)   .

– The brand continues to advance with new eco- conscious collections. The iconic Desert Pucker is carbon-neutral via an “Avoid, Reduce, Compensate” (ARC) model, using sustainably sourced TENCEL™ Modal that drops carbon and water footprints by around 50%. And the Spring 2026, collection will include chemical-free Mosquito Protection Technology™ (MPT) apparel—like the Salathé Sun Hoody, combining UPF 40+ sun protection with a tight weave that blocks mosquitoes without repellents  . That same collection has 90% of styles made with ≥75% lower-impact fibers like organic cotton, hemp, recycled poly, and TENCEL™ Modal.

Spotless Evolution Tank Pacific Blue Fern PT Dress

The Spotless Evolution Tank Dress has been one of my go-to’s for this unusually super hot and humid Summer in the Northeast. WOOF!  This season is just not fun for me when it comes time to get dressed and head out the door. It makes me feel a bit self conscious worrying about whether or not I’ll sweat through whatever I’m wearing and won’t have a change of clothes.

This versatile dress was made to move and groove in! It’s ideal to wear for almost anything and the look can easily be changed with whatever shoe you choose.  I’ve used it for several different occasions: coffee/ dinner dates with girlfriends, cover up for my bathing suit with paddleboarding- before, during, and after. I also did my first ever hike in this dress! I’ve always wanted to wear one when hiking because I love dresses and the convenience of them, but I could never find a good UPF, moisture wicking, quick drying piece. I  finally found one that is all of those things AND cute as heck!  And if you’re a blue eyed girlie, this dress will really make your eyes pop too!

Cleaning and Features

Another thing I wanted to mention was the HeiQ Stain away technology which is made without PFCs and helps spills and dirt wash out easily. Like I mentioned- I’ve worn it hiking and for many other activities. Whether it’s accidentally getting food on myself or just simply walking out of my activities looking like a bomb went off on me, this dress is so easy to clean.  All I have to do is throw it in the wash and my dress always comes out looking new!

As far as fit and aesthetic, I’d say this fits true to size, as I’m a true Medium! The overall fit was empire waist with a cross back, built-in-shelf bra, and an A-line skirt that falls right above the knee. This dress has plenty of pocket space, which consists of two drop-in hand pockets, a discreet zip pocket, and a hidden elastic mesh pocket.  All of the extra storage without all of the extra bulk!

I get why this is one of Royal Robbins best sellers for women and so highly rated! You can keep it comfortable, go casual, or even add a wedge or heel to make it classy and dressy.  I’ve switched it up all those ways and more. A true anywhere or anything, timeless dress with great performance. It’s my most used dress of Summer!

Some of my favorite things about this dress include how lightweight and wrinkle resistant it is, as well as moisture wicking with a UPF40+ . I never have to worry about sweat seeping through! As I mentioned above, it can be easily dressed up or dressed down to keep it casual. I love how convenient the pockets are, especially the hidden pocket (one with zipper/ one with small mesh elastic) where I typically store my chapstick or my sunglasses. It also has HeiQ Stain away technology.

As far as the fit, this fits true to size- a little on the bigger side, but overall has a flattering shape/ fit. I could’ve sized down from the Medium and been ok. I’m someone who prefers a tad bit extra room and stretch for food and drinks when I’m out and about. I feel the length is great, as the hemline sits just above the knee and the tie waist adds a feminine touch mixed with versatility. The navy color is just classic!

Women’s All In Short  in Wild Rhubarb

The All in Shorts are an extremely versatile piece from Royal Robbins

They are crafted from 100% recycled nylon in an ottoman weave, making them both environmentally friendly and a durable, quick drying product.  I used these shorts for lifting, hiking, and water based recreation to casual wear and light activity around the house.  They were most ideal for me for hot, active days and being on the water.

I couldn’t get over how soft and lightweight these shorts were, yet so durable! That’s the first thing that stood out to me about them in all of my activities.  I was also a fan of the pocket placement. The two front drop-in pockets and zipper pockets on the side are laid out perfectly and offer plenty of ease, convenience, and secure storage.

As far as the fit, I’m typically Medium and had to size down to Small. The waist was too loose on me and kept falling down even after tightening the drawcord. Speaking of the drawcord, I have to acknowledge that both that and the waistband really helped ensure comfortable fits on the body when my sizing was right.  I sure have gotten my use out of these since!

Women’s Hempline Short in Wild Rhubarb

The Hempline shorts are a hemp/ recycled poly blend that have a very soft and relaxed texture feel.  According to royalrobbins.com, the short is crafted from a thoughtful tri-blend of 53% hemp, 44% recycled polyester, and 3% spandex, delivering a fabric that is built for comfort. They are perfect for hanging around or casual days and nights out on-the-go. I preferred to use them in my everyday life vs. hiking but I feel they were durable and breathable enough if someone wanted to do smaller adventures.  I just didn’t prefer that.

Some of my favorite features of the shorts are how lightweight, breathable, and comfortable they are. The fabric is great in high temperatures and humidity and is very breathable. They have just the right amount of stretch and the pull on, tie- front allows for adjustability, which is perfect for an hourglass shape like me. It didn’t move and stayed put after I tied it up tight!  I love how these shorts keep on getting softer with every use!

As far as fit,  I’m Medium and it was true to size. It’s an overall relaxed fit that offers plenty of ease with movement. The length was also great for me- not too short and not too long. Extremely functional and a timeless piece for all wardrobes!

What I Didn’t Like

The only thing that I can ever find wrong with this brand is that the sizing is not always accurate.  It pains me to even say that because everything else about the brand I genuinely love! But truth be told- that part is frustrating! Otherwise, Royal Robbins is one of my favorite brands to wear!

Final Thoughts

Royal Robbins is a brand that I feel I truly align with. I value sustainability, authenticity, and brands who care so much about the environment and make products that reflect their core values. But in the same breath, they don’t sacrifice on quality. Everything that they produce will last you a long time.

I’m so grateful to the brand for allowing me to test their products out again. I know my last review was more geared toward adventure and this one is more casual/ lifestyle, but I love that these items of clothing were some of the most versatile pieces I’ve been sent. All of these casual products can all be easily elevated with just change of accessories. The list is endless with how many ways I can wear them! I like to be put together when I step outside– for life or adventure- and the quality, durability, and multifunctional use can’t be beat with Royal Robbins.  Was, is, and will always be a huge fan of this brand!
