Hollywood Sign Hike
I have done a lot of hikes. Some very hard, some easier. And sometimes I just have to be a tourist. On my first trip to Los Angeles, I just had to hike close to the Hollywood. This is iconic and something I had always wanted to see and it was definitely worth the short trip.
Getting Started
There are a ton of different options to hike to and around the Hollywood. i chose the Innsdale drive spot. Mostly because this is the easiest and it had already been a long day. It was definitely worth it for some great views of the sign. However, if you are looking for a more challenging hike, you may want to check out other options. There is also very little street parking at this location so it could be hard to find a spot.
The Hike
There really isn’t much to this hike. You follow a service road from one neighbor hood to another. There is a gradual incline through the hike but nothing that is too challenging. Plus, there were plenty of times to stop and take pictures of the Hollywood Sign and catch your breath.

From the top of the hike you can also see Lake Hollywood in the distance and many of the surrounding homes. I, honestly, didn’t know that there was a lake in Hollywood so I thought that was cool. When you can’t see the sign, the views of the surrounding valley are pretty cool.

The Sign
Now what we are all here for, the Hollywood Sign. This was a really cool thing to see! Even on this short hike I kept my eyes plastered up at the hill top. I know this is probably a common sight for the locals, but for a visitor it was a cool experience.

The first view of the sign was a little off to the side. It was a really good perspective to see just how big those letters ar. I like to imagine it back when it was installed, before the giant communication tower. Before long, the trail takes you directly underneath the sign with more of the iconic view.

While this was a short and easy hike, it was important for the kid inside of me. Seeing this icon in movies and tv shows over the years always made me want to see it with my own eyes. When I saw it, I knew the whole trip was worth it.
Distance and Elevation
If you don’t have the AllTrails app you might want to check it out, I really love mine. It records your progress and is a great way to search for hikes that are nearby and gives you difficulty measurements. According to AllTrails today’s hike was around .97 miles and had a total elevation gain of about 128 feet including undulations. That put the high point at around 1,070 feet. I was also moving for a total 22 minutes.

Effort
There really isn’t too much to this hike. Roundtrip it is less than a mile with pretty easy elevation gain. I am going to set this as an easy hike.
Terrain
This Hollywood Sign hike is on a wide dirt road that really easy to manage. It is a very exposed hike to the elements so you will wan to make sure to have protection from the sun and weather.
Access to the Hollywood Sign Hike
The Hollywood Sign Hike from Innsdale avenue starts at Innsdale Avenue and Canyon Lake Drive. This is a neighborhood so make sure to follow all parking and speed limit rules. There are no restroom facilities at this location.
Wrapping up the Hollywood Sign Hike
What a fun and iconic hike. I know I am gushing a little bit but this was one of those bucket list things that I am glad I was able to do. There really isn’t much to this hike other than the views of the sign. But that is exactly what I was looking for so this end up perfect.
I have added this hike and all of my hikes to the interactive map page you can find here. If you have any suggestions for hikes or comments feel free to email me at fatmanlittletrails@gmail.com or you can follow me on any of the below social media platforms. Happy Hiking!
