Royal Robbins Fall ‘25/ Winter ‘26 Style Review
Royal Robbins quickly became one of my go-to brands for everyday wear from the moment I was first introduced to it almost two years ago (I’m looking at you, Spotless Evolution joggers). They hit that sweet spot of quality, sustainability, and timeless style – basically the dream outdoorsy trifecta. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you already know I’m a big fan. The brand consistently delivers pieces that blend outdoor performance with everyday wearability.
Recently, the team at Royal Robbins sent over a few pieces from their Fall ‘25 /Winter ‘26 collection and it’s honestly my favorite yet! I’ve never received so many compliments from men, women, and total strangers as I have with this lineup. But before I get into the actual gear review and all the reasons I love this season’s pieces, I wanted to touch briefly about Liz Robbins– one of the brand’s founders. Understanding her story adds so much context to the clothing and highlights why Royal Robbins has earned its reputation among outdoor enthusiasts who value both function and style.

About Liz Robbins
Liz Robbins is more than just a co-founder of Royal Robbins – she is a true trailblazer and visionary in her own right. While her achievements are often intertwined with those of her husband, she made history as the first woman to climb a Grade VI route on the Northwest Face of Half Dome, alongside Royal. That same year, the couple completed the first ascent of the Nutcracker Suite on Ranger Rock, introducing pioneering “clean climbing” techniques designed to minimize environmental impact. Their partnership played a key role in shaping the clean climbing movement with Liz’s expertise and vision driving innovation in both the sport and its gear.
Frustrated by the lack of durable, functional outdoor clothing for climbing, Liz Robbins took matters into her own hands. Working from her father’s basement, she and Royal launched Mountain Paraphernalia (later Royal Robbins), creating gear built to endure. Drawing on her climbing experience, Liz designed the Billy Goat® Short in 1975 – the brand’s first original piece – setting a standard for durable, versatile, and sustainable apparel suitable for both adventure and everyday life. Her innovative mindset and commitment to these values continue to define the brand, keeping both her and Royal’s legacy alive today. Rockcraft Wool Crew L/S

The Rockcraft Wool Crew is made for effortless layering and dependable warmth!
The Rockcraft Wool Crew is everything my Winter dreams are made of! This timeless 100% merino wool sweater is warm, breathable, naturally temperature-regulating, and delivers pure comfort. It works for almost anything – casual wear or dressing up. It’s comfortable on its own or paired under a jacket, giving it great versatility for whether you’re staying cozy inside or heading out into the cold.
The sweater can be worn as either a midlayer or a top layer. I’m typically a Medium and this fits true to size. It drapes perfectly without feeling boxy or tight– offering a relaxed, standard fit. The classic crew neck, raglan sleeves, and Fair Isle pattern make it super easy to style with jeans, outdoor pants, or everyday layers. Effortlessly reliable and classic!
Aside from the timeless pattern and overall versatility, another favorite aspect of this sweater is in the construction. The merino knit is warm yet breathable and soft enough for direct skin contact. It doesn’t cause the itchiness typically associated with wool. The weight feels substantial for insulation and its natural breathability keeps it from ever feeling heavy. The Rockcraft nails the happy medium between balanced warmth and thoughtful performance.
Westlands Fairisle Crew in Chalk Htr Monarch

Christmas festivities and cocktails in my Westlands Fairisle Crew sweater!
I’m obsessed with this sweater and it’s definitely one of my favorites from the collection! It’s a timeless, easy, everyday piece that gives big cozy winter energy! This sweater is made from a thoughtful blend of non-mulesed merino wool and recycled polyester (“SeaWool”/“OysterYarn”) and delivers premium wool warmth with added durability, lightness, and sustainability. It stays warm and cozy without ever feeling heavy.
I’m typically a Medium and I’d say this fits true to size. The cut lands perfectly between fitted and relaxed – easy to move in, easy to layer, and not bulky at all. The classic Fair Isle pattern paired with a crew neck silhouette keeps the look timeless and versatile. It can be worn on its own, layered under a coat, or worn through shifting seasons.
What I love most about this sweater is the balance of warmth without bulk. It’s lightweight, yet incredibly cozy. The merino-poly blend naturally resists odor, wicks moisture, and stays breathable, making it a low maintenance piece and extremely comfortable. Overall, a true wardrobe staple and a high quality, versatile piece for the Winter!
Palisades Jacket in Chalk

The Palisades Jacket keeps me cute and cozy on adventures and in everyday life!
Hands down, the Palisades Jacket was my favorite piece from this collection and is something that I wear every day! This jacket is a big, wearable hug and I find any reason to put it on when I can. Whether it’s an extra layer over my pajamas while I’m drinking coffee, a go-to on chilly Fall/Winter days, or something to throw on for hikes, it’s extremely versatile and works for everything. It’s a mix of high-loft sherpa and low-pile fleece, which creates that ultra cozy feel. It works great as a midlayer or on its own as a casual piece – offering the perfect balance of softness and warmth, practicality and comfort.
I wore a Medium and felt it was true to size. It’s a standard fit – not overly boxy or cropped. If you plan to wear fitted tops underneath, stick to your true size, as it’ll give you enough room. If you want to layer it over heavier sweaters or multiple layers, consider sizing up for extra space. Overall, the fleece has a soft, plush feel that still allows full mobility.
My favorite features are the rolled edge mock neck for extra warmth without the bulk and the two-way zipper, which lets you adjust ventilation and makes temperature control super easy. The jacket also has plenty of pockets: hand warmers, interior drop-ins, and a hidden zip pocket for essentials. With solid build quality and a reliable midweight feel, the Palisades Jacket is a cozy, all around winner.
Wilder Pant in Deep Blue

I didn’t think any pants could compete with my beloved Royal Robbins Spotless Joggers, but the Wilder Pant proved me wrong the moment I first tried them on! They quickly made their way onto my “favorites” list of outdoor gear! These pants hit that sweet spot between being tough enough for the trail and comfortable enough for everyday wear. The lightweight recycled nylon elastane blend dries fast, offers UPF 40+ sun protection, and has a water resistant finish. And at just 11 oz, they’re incredibly easy to wear and pack down for multi-day backpacking treks.
Finding a good fit with hiking pants has always been a challenge for my tall, hourglass, athletic frame. I’m 5’9″ and a true size 6, and hiking pants that are long enough and don’t gap at the waist are like finding a needle in a haystack. These are one of the few pairs that not only fit well, but perform even better. They’re relaxed yet flattering, with a comfortable high rise and fabric that moves with you without ever feeling restrictive.
One standout feature worth highlighting is Royal Robbins’ Mosquito Protection Technology (MPT), which was introduced in 2025. This built-in, non-chemical bug defense has already made such a huge difference for me! No more getting eaten alive on the trail or constantly applying (and reapplying) sticky, chemical filled sprays that disappear the second you sweat. MPT truly feels like a game-changing advancement in outdoor apparel and I have a feeling we’re only seeing the beginning of its impact. Overall, the Wilder Pant fully lives up to its “all around adventure pant” reputation. The thoughtful details and quality construction are noticeable with every step I’ve taken in the great outdoors.
El Cap Canvas Shacket

Loving on and living in my El Cap Canvas Shacket and Westlands Fairisle Crew!
I don’t know why, but this jacket gives me full on Christmas Hallmark movie vibes – my absolute favorite! You know that effortlessly rugged, cozy look everyone wears in those tiny small town holiday scenes? That’s exactly the energy I feel when wearing this jacket! Now, if only wearing it could actually score me a role in one of those movies…
All jokes aside, this sherpa lined jacket is a cozy, timeless staple. It has the effortless feel of a classic button-up, but with the warmth and structure of a real jacket. The soft, durable fabric has just enough touch of stretch and moves with you – all thanks to the organic cotton and TENCEL™ modal blend. I’m a size Medium and find it runs true to size. It strikes the perfect balance between fitted and relaxed – making layering over a tee or light sweater effortless and instantly put together.
Functionality and practicality is where this jacket really shines. It pairs with pretty much anything – jeans, joggers, you name it! And because it’s warm without being heavy, it works across multiple seasons. The insulated lining keeps you cozy without feeling stuffy. I also love the snaps and pockets of this jacket, as they are all extremely plentiful and practical. All in all, a solid cool weather staple and piece that only improves with wear.
What I didn’t like
Honestly, I couldn’t find a single thing to dislike! Everything I tried fit perfectly, felt high quality, and looked so cute. The only thing I’ve noticed with the brand is that sizing can be a bit inconsistent and sometimes running large. I didn’t have that issue at all with this Fall/Winter haul from Royal Robbins.
Final Thoughts
Oh, look- Royal Robbins has done it again! Since I started reviewing their gear, they’ve consistently raised the bar with fresh, innovative designs. I genuinely look forward to each new collection to see how they’ll elevate the brand next. Their Mosquito Protection Technology (MPT) is a perfect example and already recognized by Time and Popular Science as a top innovation. I’ve tried two products featuring MPT – the Wilder Pants (mentioned above) and the soon to launch Salathe lightweight hoodie and it’s clear this technology will continue to be a game changer for outdoor enthusiasts.
What I continue to love most about Royal Robbins is how effortlessly they blend versatility with sustainability. Everything feels designed for real life, while still being thoughtful toward our planet. Their gear isn’t just meant to look good – it truly performs and protects. And as someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, that care is evident in every stitch and detail. They make it so easy to rely on the brand and trust them season after season.
