Thai Bella- Moab
As a tourist town, Moab is full of restaurants. However, one keeps bringing me back and that is Thai Bella. Located just off of the strip, Thai Bella feels more like stopping by a neighbors house for a bite to eat than a restaurant. On my first visit, I was able to talk to the hostess for about 10 minutes about lack of knowledge when it came to Thai food. She listened to my tastes and made some great recommendations. My second time, the same thing happened with my server. The entire atmosphere at Thai Bella feels like family. They are welcoming and patient for those of us who are stepping out of comfort zone.
The Food
Now to the important part…The Food! A family feel is one thing but the food is what keeps people coming back to a restaurant. I can honestly say that I have been back to Thai Bella on my last two trips to Moab because the food was delicious.
Thai Bella offers traditional food including a large assortment of Curry’s, seafood, Duck, soups and appetizers. For this visit I went with some dumplings (Steamed Gyoza) and, at the recommendation of my hosts, Khao-Soi, which is a their best seller and a twist on traditional Thai street food.
Steamed Gyoza
Steamed Gyoza are dumplings stuffed with pork and veggies and served with a sweet and sour ginger soy sauce. These were great! After a long day of exploring Arches, the dumplings were the perfect started. They are soft and have a generous amount of pork in them. The sauce is flavorful and I really enjoyed them.
Khao-Soi
After filling up on the Steamed Gyoza, I wasn’t ready for how much food was about to come out. The Khao-Soi is egg noodles in yellow curry sauce topped with crispy noodles, onions, lime and cilantro and a choice of meat. I choose to go with the beef.
First, look at the presentation. The bowl looks like a work of art with the lotus flower on top! There was such a great mix of flavors with this dish. The yellow curry sauce is a mix of bell pepper, carrot, potato and pineapple. It was rich and provided the base flavor of the dish. The onions and cilantro mixed really well with the curry, giving it a little more tang. I also really liked the combo of the egg noodles and crispy noodles giving different textures to each bit. The beef was cooked really well and absorbed a lot of that curry flavor. This was very good and each bite kept getting better!
I have had a couple of great experiences now at Thai Bella in Moab. I hope that you do too! If you find yourself looking for a great meal, just off the main strip, give Thai Bella a shot!
Finding Thai Bella in Moab
Thai Bella is located at 218 N 100 W in Moab. It is just off of the main strip of downtown. There is some street parking located nearby. They are open Wednesday through Monday from 3pm – 9:30pm, closed Tuesday’s.
