Tiger Town Brewing
Located in the small town of Mitchell, Oregon is a real hidden gem called Tiger Town Brewing. Tiger Town is a brewery that you might see in Portland or Boulder tucked into the narrow Bridge Creek Canyon just off of US-25. Tiger Town brews several different options of local brews that rotate, including lagers, IPA’s, Red Ale’s, Golden Ale’s and more. They also have a full menu making it the perfect spot to stop while exploring the area.
The Town
Mitchell, population 138, is one of those towns that if you blink, you may miss it. But if you keep your eyes open, you will see so much! There is a great story on Tiger Town’s website about how the town was started when a whiskey wagon blew a tire so the driver just held up and started the first saloon. As they say, the myth’s are always better than reality.
Mitchell has a ton of old west charm on such a small footprint right off the road. It was a great place to stop and walk around a bit and have a great lunch. Plus, it has really cool old signs which is something I am always partial too!
The Food!
Now to the important part…The Food! While Tiger Town Brewing has a great list of beers made right there, I like to focus on the food. Tiger Town has a rather extensive menu of burgers, apps, wings, sandwiches. salads and deserts. I was impressed with 10 different options of wings and couldn’t pass up a chance to take down some Tiger Wings!
The Tiger wings are the classic Buffalo option with a buttery heat and comes with ranch or blue cheese. These were some great wings! The wings are thick and the meat just falls right off the bone. The sauce had a bit of a kick to it but the flavor really came through the heat. I really enjoyed them and crushed the entire plate.
I paired the wings with the Sidewinder fries that were like a flat curly fry and are flavored with garlic and spices and are really good. The motto of Tiger Town Brewing is that they are “worth the drive.” Well, I have to agree. We had a great time at the brewery and had a delicious lunch while exploring John Day National Monument. If you find yourself near Mitchell, make sure you give Tiger Town a shot!
Finding Tiger Town Brewing
Tiger Town Brewing is located at 108 W. Main St in Mitchell, Oregon. There is a bit of parking in front of the spot as well as street parking along the Main Street. Tiger Town is open daily with Summer Hours set at 11am – 8pm. They also have music and events that you can find on their website here.
