Big Gear Show Helpful Products
The Big Gear Show just wrapped in Park City, Utah and it was a great experience. An outdoor convention held outdoors! A ton of companies attended. I covered the show as media and saw some great new products. I have a series of posts but to finish up here is Big Gear Show Helpful Products.
Uncharted Supply
Uncharted Supply is doing some amazing work when it comes to first aid and safety in the outdoors. They have several options of kits for every outdoor activity and season. Uncharted’s Seventy2 series is full of everything someone will need to survive in the wilderness or back country for 72 hours and the kit is stacked. The thought is that most survival situations are resolved in 72 hours. So, if someone can hold out that long they increase their chance of survival and rescue. The eleven pound 72 series comes equipped with a multi-tool, survival tent, emergency rations, shovel, blanket and so much more. It really is a great kit for anyone heading to the back country.

For those who are headed on a shorter trip, Uncharted developed the Park Pack. The Park pack is a hip belt that comes with two non-spill water bottles. Internal pockets provide space to carry first aid and necessaries like a phone and keys. There are even two external attaching points to attach other gear. The Park Pack, paired with the Triage Kit, will have plenty of first aid at the ready for your next adventure.

Hikers Brew
Who doesn’t love a great cup of coffee when hiking or camping? The problem is how to keep your pack light while doing it. Hikers Brew has the solution in their Venture Pouches. The Venture Pouches are packed in 36 gram packages so you easily store it in your pack. Each Venture Pouch comes in a compostable package and brews 2-4 cups of real coffee. No more instant coffee on that camping trip!

Hikers Brew comes with some great flavors like smores, caramel, hazelnut and more. The coffee is still the dominant flavor with just a hint of the flavoring so you get the cup of joe you are looking for with a little extra boost of flavor. For the longer trips or to enjoy Hikers Brew at home they also do offer 12oz Basecamp Bags.
Klean Kanteen
Klean Kanteen was the only brand mentioned here that I had a bit of a relationship with. I just started an affiliate marketing relationship with them but it is so new I still learned a ton from them at the BIg Gear Show. Klean Kanteen is family and employee owned and a certified B Corp. A B-Corp means they have some of the highest global standards in both social and environmental accountability. Klean also makes some really great water bottles, cups, Food Boxes and more.

I have the Black TK Wide 32 OZ bottle from Klean and I love it. The bottle is made of steel along with twist cap. The bottle is made from 90% recycled steel and has a vacuum insulation system that keeps my cool for a long time. I left my bottle in a hot car, did a five mile hike, and the water was still nice and cool when I came back.
The twist cap comes with a steel and silicone straw that is dishwasher safe. I am not one who usually gushes about water bottles but this one is something special. Plus, it is built to last which I really like. I am not gentle on water bottles. I either throw them in the car, stuff them in packs or drop them and the solid steel design holds up to all of my abuse! If you are looking for a steel water bottle from a family owned company who is doing it the right way the Klean Kanteen might be perfect for you. If this blog made you decide to get one I would love it if you clicked on my affiliate link here. I would make a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Yakima
I have known about Yakima mostly for their roof racks and car top storage options. At the Big Gear Show one of the helpful products that they were showcasing was the Exo-Hitch system. The Exo was really cool and convenient and I think will help a lot of people.
With the Yakima Exo system a mechanical arm system is attached to the hitch. Then there are modular pieces that connect directly to the arm system. You can add gear totes, the Open Range Camp Kitchen (shown below), gear lockers, bike mounts and more. The Exo and all the different racks fit perfectly and slide in and out really easily so it only takes one person typically to mount and dismount an attachment.

What makes the Yakima back rack so special is that it opens up at a 90 degree angle to allow for the liftgate to be opened without having to remove everything on the back rack. Combined with the modular way that the accessories slide onto the carrier it makes for an easy and quick way to load and unload for the next adventure.

Moon
For all you car campers and van life folks out there Moon has a product that is for you. Moon has a line of car or van mounted shades to give you that extra shade when you find the perfect spot. What makes the Moon shade a bit different is their hardware that makes attaching to any vehicle easy. They have suction cups and magnet options for cars with no rails or hardware that fits right into the rail and track systems.

The Moon tents are seven by nine feet and provide that extra comfort on the hot days. They also have a Moon Wall that gives you extended coverage and a bit of privacy. I liked that they had so many ways to attach the Moon system so it will work on any car and not just custom vans.
