Double Arrow Lodge – Seeley Lake, Montana

Double Arrow Lodge – Seeley Lake, Montana

Nestled about an hour northeast of Missoula, along the chain of lakes along state route 83, sits the Double Arrow Lodge in Seeley Lake, Montana. The Double Arrow Lodge is spacious property with several individual cabins, some larger group cabins and several amenities including a pool and golf course. On a recent trip, the tourism board set me up with a stay there and I wanted to share my thoughts on the Double Arrow Lodge.

Chain of Lakes Cabins

Some of the newer cabins on the property are called the Chain of Lakes Cabins. The stand alone cabins form a semi-circle across the grounds from the main lodge. I stayed in the Summit cabin so can only speak to that one, but each cabin was similar in size from the outside and included a back porch.

The cabins gave a rustic, log cabin feel with feel. However, they are full of amenities that give it a more modern feel.

The Living Space

The Summit was perfect for one person or a couple. The living area is spacious and well designed. As you enter, there is a king sized bed centered against the back wall of the room. A really cool sitting area focuses on the Picture window. A small gas fireplace sits in the corner and provides heat for the cabin. The fireplace was tied to the thermostat, so it would fire up when the room got a chill and was enough to heat the whole room.

The Summit cabin had a small fridge and coffee station right next to the side door entrance. Across the room on the other side of the bed, there is a small desk with room for laptop. These are really nice little touches but the main focus on the room is definitely the sitting area and the bed. The love seat and two chairs are very comfortable and cozy, especially with the fireplace nearby. I sat and just stared out the window for a long time. (There is no TV because nature is better to look at!!!) The bed is also extremely comfortable and I just melted inside of it at the end of a couple of long days.

The Bathroom

So most of the time I skip over bathrooms. We all know what they are for and in lodging they are relatively basic. Not at the Double Arrow Lodge. This bathroom was amazing. First and foremost I have to talk about the tub.

This was one of the nicest bathtubs I have ever seen. Against the dark wood of the floors and walls, the white tub really stood out as the centerpiece of this large bathroom. I hate to admit it, but my trip was so packed I didn’t have time to enjoy the tub, but plan on spending some time in it on my next trip!

There is also a large walk-in shower in the cabin, washer and dryer and then a really nice vanity that was stocked with the essentials for the stay.

The Back Porch

Now that the indoor living space is covered, its time to look at where you might spend the most of your time. What is a cabin without a back porch to sit on? Well the Chain of Lakes cabins at the Double Arrow has you covered there.

The back porch basically became the front of my cabin. I used that door almost exclusively once I checked in. It is more of a wrap around porch connects the side door and the back of the cabin but most of my time was spent sitting back here. The view is great of the grounds. I even got to see a family of deer both mornings. The simple wood chairs were perfect way to wrap up a day or start off with a cup of coffee.

The Grounds

One of my favorite things about the Double Arrow is the giant open grounds. Both mornings of my stay, I woke up to see a family of deer grazing in the grounds. There is a volleyball net, a horseshoe pit and as you can see below, plenty of space between cabins. The giant trees on the property also gave a ton of shade but were spread out enough to allow natural light to pour into my cabin. This large space also helped with the feeling of privacy and space, which I really enjoyed during my stay.

Main Lodge

The Main Lodge at Double Arrow Lodge is pretty impressive. There are a couple of guest rooms that are available within the lodge itself. It also has a bar and a really nice restaurant called Seasons. I did another post about Seasons recently that you can find here.

The lodge is anchored by a gigantic wood burning fireplace that makes the whole building smell amazing. There is a nice seating area around the fire that my group used as a gathering point throughout our trip. Out back, there is another big fire pit for gathering that is perfect for making smores and winding down the day.

The main lodge got busy around dinner and meals but also could be a place for relaxation if you prefer to read a book by the fire at other times. The staff was also really helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay.

Golfing and More

The Double Arrow golf course is an 18 hole course that has some amazing views. Guests of the lodge get priority when it comes to tee times. There is also a lot of recreation nearby. From hiking, biking and horseback riding in the summer and cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, there is always something to do to enjoy the time. There is also an indoor pool at Double Arrow.

With all the space, the double Arrow is also available for larger groups for weddings, reunions or conferences. Double Arrow also has a large assortment of lodging options for bigger groups and families. All the options can be found here.

Finding the Double Arrow Lodge

The Double Arrow Lodge is located in Seeley Lake, Montana. It is on the southern side of Seeley Lake just off of MT-83. It is open all seasons.

Fatman’s Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed my time at the Double Arrow Lodge. It was my first trip to Montana and was blown away by all there was to do nearby. The cabins and food were both great. I live in the city so I could not believe just how quiet it got. It was a short trip but I am definitely looking to find some time that I can return and spend more time in the area.
